LORE PremiseChaptersSettingFAQ

Since we are a group focused on prose writing, we will NOT be role-playing in real time. Instead, we’ll operate in a fluid timeline by chunking things into chapters.

A chapter is a duration of in-world time in which threads, drabbles, and story beats take place. The length of time covered by a chapter may vary. Some chapters may be only one month long. Eventually, we might have chapters that cover a year or more.

There are many benefits to operating within chapters:

  1. We do not need to worry about the progression of real time. This means you can allow your threads to conclude before moving on to something new, so if something is plot- or development-heavy, you don’t have to rush to complete the thread.
  2. We are able to take our time to develop plots and story beats; things don’t need to happen instantaneously in-universe, allowing for satisfying build-up without IRL time dragging on too long.
  3. It gives us the freedom to develop our characters over longer stretches of time. No one knows how long the role-play will last, but by operating in chapters, we can cover longer chunks of time and see how our characters change, grow, and develop over long in-game periods.

Typically, we will endeavor to hit one or two major story beats within a chapter. This may include:

How It Works

For the duration of a chapter, you will write threads, embark on excursions, and complete “I Want To” tasks like you would normally. Because we operate in a fluid timeline, you can choose when these things happen.

EXAMPLE: As Halvinel, Syd starts a thread with Pup and a thread with Matt at the same time Hal opens an excursion thread. Syd can write all of these things at once and determine, later, that they want the order of events to be Thread With Pup > Excursion > Thread With Matt.

This will take some communication with your writing partner to ensure the timing works for both parties, but this group is built on a foundation of respect and transparency between writers. We’re all here to have fun together. Just communicate!

Chapter Endings

When a chapter ends, there will be a brief one-week wrap-up period IRL before a new chapter begins. During this wrap-up period, a few things happen:
