General
- 25+ ONLY: This server is for folks who are 25+ only. There may be violence or mature, suggestive content that is not suitable for minors. Additionally, the staff are all older and want to make a space welcoming to other older role-players. If you lie about your age to join and we find out, you will be banned immediately.
- BE RESPECTFUL: Be kind to one another. Respect any boundaries. Be respectful of ongoing conversations, and don’t jump in with unrelated segues. Don’t badmouth the things people like and are interested in, in plain sight where they can see it. In short: treat others how you want to be treated!
- Homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, racism, religious intolerance, ableism, and so on are not tolerated in any capacity. If anyone is intolerant toward you or anyone else, please don't hesitate to let the administration know so we can intervene.
- Fascists, zionists, TERFs, SWERFs, truscum, and transmeds are not welcome in this role-play.
- DRAMA-FREE: Drama belongs in your threads and plots, not out of character. There is no place for it here. If you have a problem with another individual in the server, be mature about it and do your best to resolve it as adults. If the problem escalates, contact one of the administrators directly.
- We operate under the typical Three-Strike System.
- Strikes are only used for major infractions. Mods will always try to talk something out with you first before resorting to a strike.
- If you are getting a strike, you will always be told explicitly in those terms.
- It is possible for strikes to fall off. For example, if we see you have fixed whatever behavior earned the strike and have no other infractions after a certain period of time, we may decide to clean your slate.
- After your third strike, you will be removed from the group, and all your characters will be dropped.
- IC =/= OOC: This one kind of goes without saying, but the way someone feels in-character does not reflect the way they feel out of character. A character could hate yours, but that doesn't reflect the player's thoughts about you. Do not take in-character drama or negativity personally.
- SERVER PROFILES:
- Your server profile should include your OOC name. If you fail to update your display name with your OOC name upon being accepted, a moderator will add it for you.
- Refrain from using special or Unicode fonts.
- NSFW display names as jokes are allowed, but do not use NSFW imagery for your icon or profile banner.
- SIDE SERVERS: Side servers should not be necessary to participate in this group. We have forum channels available for all things, including plotting, group prose, one-on-one prose, the journals, and more. If there are any other channels you need or want, just drop that over in our #suggestions channel.
- TRIGGERING CONTENT: We will not be maintaining a list of member triggers in this group. If you are uncomfortable with a topic, it is up to you to curate your experience. Communicate with your writing partners about any limits you have, or leave a specific channel until a topic has passed.
- This means app-able characters will not be restricted or limited by member triggers.
- VENTING: We do not have vent channels in this server, and that is intentional. This server is not an appropriate place to vent about real-life trauma or to be excessively negative.
- ZERO TOLERANCE RE: AI: The use of AI is not allowed in this role-play, no matter what form it takes. If we find out you have used generative AI to generate profile pictures, character backstories, or role-play replies, you will be banned immediately with no opportunity to rejoin.
Accessibility
- This group tries to make web accessibility a priority wherever feasible. All members are expected to prioritize accessibility as well. While we recognize members are not experts in web accessibility guidelines, the rules below should be followed to help make a more accessible environment.
- EXTERNAL DOCUMENTS:
- All documents should be mobile responsive.
- Documents with colored backgrounds should ensure the text has appropriate color contrast.
- You can check contrast using this tool.
- Minimum passing contrast ratio is 4.5:1.
- Font sizes should be a minimum of 14px. Fancy or difficult-to-read fonts should be used sparingly.
- Headings should follow logical reading order (H1 > H2 > H3). Headings should also only be used as headings, not for font size variance.
- Example: You can’t have an H3 without an H2.
- Images utilized in a document should have alt text descriptions.
- IN-SERVER:
- Tupperbox display names should be in plain fonts.
- Thread titles should be in plain fonts.
- Whenever possible, images posted should have alt text descriptions.
Applying
- GROUP ENTRY: Although we publicly advertise, we still consider ourselves to be a closed group. You can gain entry into the group in one of two ways:
- You personally know another member, and they recommend that you join. The assumption here is that your friend can vouch for you and that you will fit in well with our little community.
- You fill out our Server Entry Form. This is a form hosted here in Notion.
- The form is always open.
- Every two weeks (15th and 30th of the month), we will review the form submissions and invite applicants to join if they seem like a good fit.
- We will not send rejection messages, so if you are not sent an invite as part of the latest run, assume you have been rejected.
- There are many reasons you may have been rejected. Feel free to apply again in the future.
- Do not submit the entry form more than once per run.
- APPLICATIONS: Applications can be submitted using the ticketing tool in the #how-to-apply channel of the server.
- Applications must be hosted on a platform of your choosing such as Google Drive, Notion, Carrd, etc.
- You are free to reformat the application however you desire so long as the above accessibility guidelines are followed.
- All areas of the application should be filled out.
- The only exception is if your character does not have any magical abilities or enchanted objects. Feel free to remove those sections if not applicable.
- You are welcome to reuse personality and backstory write-ups from other role-plays.
- Backstories influenced by headcanons are welcome, so long as the core of the character remains the same.
- For example, live service games such as Apex Legends and Overwatch have lore updates coming years into their release cycles, which can impact folks who have role-played those characters since the beginning.
- If there are any questions about a headcanon you have, or if you’re afraid your changes are too much, feel free to ask in #general-help or open a ticket.
- Backstory and personalities can be as long as you need them to be. For example, if you want to do bullet points, you are more than welcome to do that as long as it gives us a general idea of who the character is.
- LGBTQ+ headcanons are always welcome, including transgender characters, but cisswapping characters is not allowed at this time.
- DUPLICATES: Currently we do not allow fully AU interpretations or duplicates.
- If there are two distinct gender versions of a protagonist, both would be allowed.
- For example, we would allow both Lumine and Aether from Genshin Impact, but we wouldn’t allow both fem!Morgan Yu and masc!Morgan Yu from Prey.
- If there is more than one version of a character across games, all of them would be allowed.
- For example, Link from Twilight Princess, Link from Wind Waker, and Link from Breath of the Wild would all be allowed as they are all separate characters from distinct games.
- For FFXIV WoLs, BG3 Tavs, DA:I Inquisitors, and so on:
- We allow duplicates of these types of characters. The assumption is that each version of the Player Character comes from a different timeline.
- Canon characters can choose to recognize your Player Character if they wish. However, it must be pre-plotted.
- Not all canon characters need to recognize your Player Character, even if others do.
- For example, Cullen played by Member X chooses to recognize Matt’s Inquisitor, but Dorian played by Member Y chooses to remember a different Inquisitor.
- If your canon character chooses to recognize a Player Character, you MUST also interact with other Player Characters.
- If we find there is favoritism happening, we reserve the right to amend this rule at any time.
