MECHANICS Combat ✧ Exploration ✧ Favor ✧ Skills & Jobs

Time passes, and it’s not hard to realize that going home is not something you can force. Inevitably, you will want to put down roots and create comforts for yourselves among the wilds of The World. Time passes, and your survival skills steadily improve until you can create pockets of civilization to call home.
At early tiers of Favor, you gain one Job Point. This means by Favor Tier 5, you will have earned six Job Points total.
Jobs themselves operate on a Rank system, where certain jobs are locked until you put in an appropriate number of Job Points into the previous Rank. Once a Job Rank is unlocked for your character, you are free to put your next earned Job Point into whichever Rank you desire. It is not required to always build up to the next Rank, but is recommended.
Now when you submit a form to Gain Favor, COSMOS will ask you what job you would like to choose. Simply tell us your choice in your Gain Favor ticket, and we will note the choice in the Masterlist.
Look at the job list below. Choose one job and click “Open” to observe how the job features up to five levels of skill.
Your skill at a job levels up automatically, so you only ever need to spend points on a job once. When choosing a new job at later favor tiers, you automatically know all previous ranks.

EXAMPLE: Halvinel chooses the “Woodcutter” job at Rank 1. By Favor Tier 5, they will achieve the “Water Wheel” skill even though they never spend another Job Point on “Woodcutter”.
When Halvinel chooses the “Hunter” job at Rank 3, they will achieve the skills “Tracking”, “Traps and Snares”, and “Bird Hunter”.

The idea is that, especially for Rank 1 jobs, your character is gaining a lot of different skills as they live, survive, and thrive in the wilderness.

When choosing your Rank 1 jobs, think carefully about what jobs you want to grow into at higher Tiers of Favor.
Growth and Reliance jobs feed into Artisan jobs. Reliance and Production feed into Craftsman jobs.
You will need one point (at least) in both feeding categories, and to spend three points (combined total) in the Rank 1 groupings to be able to take a job in the according Rank 2 groupings above it.

EXAMPLE: Halvinel puts a point into “Cook” (Reliance), a point into “Combatant” (Reliance), and a point into “Hunter” (Production). This means they can take the Rank 2 job “Carpenter” (Craftsman), but cannot put any points into any Artisan Rank 2 jobs, as they have no Growth foundation to start from.
Alternately, they could put a point into “Forager” (Growth), “Combatant” (Reliance), and “Hunter” (Production) to take a Rank 2 Craftsman OR Artisan job.
